**[0:00 — INTRO]**
"Assalam-o-Alaikum! I am Ali Akbar Shah — Day 23. You can now design cards and
flyers. Today: the trifold brochure — six panels and a fold order that punishes
guessing — plus the letterhead, and the full professional export: CMYK check,
300 dpi, PDF/X, and a preflight checklist you will use on every print job of
your career."
**[SCREEN CUE: Hold a real folded trifold brochure to camera; unfold it.]**
**[2:30 — THE PANEL MAP]**
"Look at this brochure. Outside, left to right: inside flap — this tucks in;
back cover; front cover — the right panel. Inside: three panels, one story.
And the panel that folds inside is 2 millimeters narrower — 97, not 99 — so it
closes flat. Write this map down; it is the most-memorized diagram in print
design."
**[SCREEN CUE: Draw the panel map on screen; label OUTSIDE: flap/back/cover.]**
**[6:00 — SETUP]**
"New document, landscape A4 plus bleed: 303 by 216. Trim rectangle 297 by 210,
press P. Rulers on — View > Rulers — drag guides to 97 and 197 millimeters.
Label the panels on a locked guides layer. Five millimeters clear of every
fold — text never crosses a crease."
**[SCREEN CUE: Build the setup live.]**
**[9:30 — OUTSIDE DESIGN]**
"Front cover, right panel: full-bleed photo — File > Import — check Bitmaps >
Resample, 300 dpi. Brown overlay with the Transparency tool, white logo and
name, 24 point. Back cover, middle: contact info — this side shows when the
brochure lies face-down. Inside flap: 'Our Story', three teaser lines. Align
each panel's content with Object > Align and Distribute."
**[SCREEN CUE: Design the outside live, panel by panel.]**
**[15:00 — INSIDE + LETTERHEAD]**
"Layout > Insert Page: the inside — three equal panels, one flowing menu.
Headings 14 point, items 11 bold, descriptions 8 point. Then page 3: the
letterhead. A4 portrait. Logo and name top-left, contact top-right, thin gold
rule, footer centered — and the middle stays EMPTY. A letterhead never fights
the letter."
**[SCREEN CUE: Build inside + letterhead.]**
**[20:00 — CMYK + DPI AUDIT]**
"Before export, the audit. Every object: select, F11 — is it CMYK? Web graphics
sneak in as RGB; convert or replace them. Every photo: Bitmaps > Resample —
300 dpi at print size? Fix failures now."
**[SCREEN CUE: Run F11 and Resample checks live.]**
**[23:00 — PDF/X EXPORT + PREFLIGHT]**
"File > Publish to PDF. Choose a PDF/X preset — 1a or X-3, whichever your
print shop prefers. Prepress tab: 3 millimeter bleed on. Export all pages.
Then preflight: File > Print > Preflight tab in versions that have it — plus
our manual 10-point checklist in Lesson-Notes. Open the PDF at 100 percent.
Panel order right? Spelling right? Then — and only then — send it."
**[SCREEN CUE: Export dialog; checklist on screen; finished PDF.]**
**[27:00 — CLOSE]**
"Assignment: a trifold plus letterhead for the fictional Little Roots School —
one PDF/X file, preflight 10 out of 10. Tomorrow we start Module 8, Brand
Identity Design: reading a client brief and building moodboards. Allah Hafiz!"
