# Day-17 — Video Script: Social Media Post Design
**Runtime target:** ~25 minutes | **Format:** screen recording + narration
---
**[0:00 — INTRO]**
NARRATION: "Welcome to Day 17 — and to a brand-new module: Social Media
Design. This is where designers earn their most frequent work: daily posts
for real businesses. Today you'll learn the complete formula for a
scroll-stopping Instagram and Facebook post: the right document setup, the
headline-plus-visual-plus-CTA structure, brand consistency, and perfect
export. Let's design one together."
**[1:00 — SCREEN: new document dialog]**
NARRATION: "Setup first — get this wrong and everything downstream
suffers. File, New. Units: pixels. Width 1080, height 1080. Color mode:
RGB — screens speak RGB; CMYK is for print. This square is the native
language of the Instagram and Facebook feed."
SCREEN CUE: Create the document; show the size readout.
**[2:30 — SCREEN: background + guidelines]**
NARRATION: "Background: double-click the Rectangle Tool — instant
full-page rectangle. F11, Fountain Fill — a warm cream-to-orange gradient
for our tea shop. Now guidelines: drag from the rulers to 360 and 720
pixels — a rule-of-thirds grid. Great layouts are built on invisible
structure."
SCREEN CUE: Fill background, drag guidelines.
**[5:00 — SCREEN: headline]**
NARRATION: "The headline — three to seven words that stop the scroll. Text
Tool: 'BUY 1 GET 1 FREE'. Bold, rounded, dark brown, huge. Center it with
the Align docker. Read it at arm's length: instant, right? If your headline
needs more than two seconds, rewrite it."
SCREEN CUE: Set and center the headline.
**[7:30 — SCREEN: PowerClip demo]**
NARRATION: "The visual — one strong focal point, never a collage. I import
a tea-cup photo, draw a circle, then Object, PowerClip, Place Inside Frame
— click the circle. The photo sits perfectly inside. Right-click, Edit
Contents to reposition. A soft drop shadow lifts it off the background.
Depth in ten seconds."
SCREEN CUE: PowerClip live, adjust, add shadow.
**[11:00 — SCREEN: support line + CTA button]**
NARRATION: "Support line — small, under eight words: 'This weekend only —
all teas.' Now the CTA — the money element. Rounded rectangle, deep orange,
white bold text: 'VISIT TODAY'. Center the text on the button with the
Align docker. One CTA per post — always. Two CTAs means zero clicks."
SCREEN CUE: Build the button; group it.
**[14:30 — SCREEN: brand mark + review at 100%]**
NARRATION: "Small brand mark in the corner — quiet, not competing. Now the
honesty check: View, Zoom, one hundred percent — actual pixels. Squint
test: does the headline pop? Three-second test: show it to someone — can
they repeat the offer and the action? Mine passes."
SCREEN CUE: Zoom to 100%, review.
**[17:00 — SCREEN: export dialog]**
NARRATION: "Export: Control+E, PNG, RGB, 1080 by 1080. Name it properly:
brand, topic, format. Open the PNG — exactly 1080 square, text razor
sharp. That's a finished, client-ready post."
SCREEN CUE: Export and verify the file.
**[19:00 — SCREEN: recap slide]**
NARRATION: "Recap the formula: 1080-by-1080 RGB setup. Headline — three to
seven words. One strong visual. One CTA button. Brand colors, max two
fonts. White space is your friend. Export PNG at full size. Your
assignment: two original Cuppa Joy posts — a flavor launch and a loyalty
offer — related but not identical. Tomorrow: carousels — turning one post
into a five-slide story that keeps people swiping. See you on Day 18."
SCREEN CUE: Title card with assignment summary.
