## 1. INTRO (2 min)
[ON SCREEN: CorelDRAW Welcome screen]
"Assalam-o-Alaikum and welcome to Day 8 of Graphic Designing Mastery. I am
Ali Akbar Shah. For the last week you learned design theory — colors, fonts,
layout. From today, we start our main tool: CorelDRAW. By the end of this
lesson, this screen will feel like home to you."
## 2. OBJECTIVES (1 min)
[ON SCREEN: bullet list of today's goals]
"Today you will learn four things: one — the parts of the CorelDRAW workspace;
two — the toolbox, property bar, and dockers; three — how to create a new
document with the correct settings; and four — how to save your work properly
as CDR files and templates."
## 3. DEMO — THE INTERFACE (8 min)
[ON SCREEN: blank document, cursor moves to each area as named]
"Open CorelDRAW. At the very top is the menu bar — File, Edit, View, and so
on. Everything lives here. Right below it is the property bar — and this is
important — this bar changes. Watch: I click the Pick Tool, it shows selection
options. I click the Text tool, it shows font options. Always watch this bar.
On the left is the toolbox — your drawing tools. The arrow at the top is the
Pick Tool; you will use it more than any other tool. On the right we open
dockers — panels with extra controls. Let me open Window, Dockers, Objects.
This is the Object Manager. It lists every object on every page. When your
design gets crowded, this docker is your map.
At the bottom is the status bar. It tells you the page size, the color mode,
and details of whatever you have selected. And at the bottom edge is the
color palette — left-click a color to fill an object, right-click to change
its outline."
## 4. DEMO — NEW DOCUMENT SETTINGS (8 min)
[ON SCREEN: Ctrl+N, New Document dialog]
"Now the most important professional habit: correct document setup. I press
Control N. Here I choose the size — A4 for a flyer. Orientation — portrait.
Now the big decision: color mode. RGB is for screens — social media, websites.
CMYK is for print — flyers, cards, anything a print shop will print. This
flyer is for print, so I choose CMYK. Resolution: 300 dpi for print. Units:
millimeters for print, pixels for screens. I click OK — and my page is ready,
correct from the first second."
[ON SCREEN: second document, 1080×1080 RGB]
"Now a social media post: 1080 by 1080 pixels, RGB, 96 dpi, units in pixels.
Two documents, two jobs, two correct setups. Remember the rule: print means
CMYK, millimeters, 300 dpi. Screen means RGB, pixels."
## 5. EXAMPLE — SAVE AND TEMPLATE (4 min)
[ON SCREEN: Ctrl+S, Save As Template]
"I press Control S and save as a CDR file — that is CorelDRAW's own format,
it keeps everything editable. And if I make social posts again and again, I
go to File, Save As Template. Next time I start a new document, my template
is waiting — same size, same settings, zero setup time."
## 6. MISTAKES (3 min)
[ON SCREEN: quick examples]
"Three mistakes beginners always make. One: designing a print job in RGB —
the colors will shift at the print shop. Two: forgetting to save — press
Control S often. Three: ignoring the property bar — half the tool's power is
hiding right there."
## 7. PRACTICE + RECAP / HOMEWORK (2 min)
[ON SCREEN: homework slide]
"Your practice today: create three documents — a print business card in CMYK,
a YouTube thumbnail in RGB, and an Instagram story in RGB — and save them all
as CDR files. Your assignment: build a starter kit for an imaginary bakery,
'Golden Crust Bakery', with a flyer, a Facebook post, a logo square, and one
template. Full details are in your Daily Assignment file.
Tomorrow, Day 9, we finally draw: the Pick Tool and shape tools. See you then."
