# Video Script — Day-01: What Is Graphic Design?
**Course:** ARTTECHES Graphic Designing Mastery
**Module:** M02 — Design Fundamentals
**Instructor:** Ali Akbar Shah
**Estimated video length:** 25–30 minutes
---
## [INTRO — 0:00–2:00] (Instructor on camera, warm smile)
**Narration:**
"Assalam-o-Alaikum! Welcome to Day 1 of Graphic Designing Mastery. I am
Ali Akbar Shah, and over the next 30 days I will take you from complete
beginner to a confident designer. But today — no computer. No software.
Today we answer the most important question: what IS graphic design?
Because if you don't understand this, no software in the world will make
you a designer."
**[Cue: show montage — shop sign, biscuit packet, wedding card, Instagram
post, billboard — 3 seconds each]**
---
## [OBJECTIVES — 2:00–3:30] (Instructor on camera)
**Narration:**
"By the end of today, you will be able to define graphic design in your
own words, name the main types of design with real examples, explain how
design differs from art, and follow the five-step professional workflow.
Grab a notebook and pen — today's tools are observation and thinking."
**[Cue: objectives appear on screen as a simple list]**
---
## [SECTION 1 — DEFINITION — 3:30–8:00] (Whiteboard / slides)
**Narration:**
"Graphic design is simple: using images, colors, shapes, and text to send
a clear message to a specific group of people. Three words — message,
audience, visuals. Let me prove it. Look at this biscuit packet. The
message: 'crunchy, tasty biscuits.' The audience: families buying snacks.
The visuals: bright colors, a big photo of biscuits. Every choice serves
the message."
**[Cue: hold up a real biscuit packet; point to logo, colors, text]**
**Narration:**
"Now the test: if any one of the three is missing, the design fails. A
beautiful poster with the wrong message — useless. The right message for
the wrong audience — wasted. Remember: message, audience, visuals."
---
## [SECTION 2 — TYPES OF DESIGN — 8:00–13:00] (Slides with examples)
**Narration:**
"Designers work in different areas. Logo design — the mark of a company.
Print design — cards, flyers, wedding invitations. Social media design —
posts and thumbnails. Packaging design — boxes and labels. Advertising —
billboards and sale banners. Pause this video, walk around your room, and
find five designed objects. I will wait. ... Found them? Good. You are
already thinking like a designer."
**[Cue: each type appears with a real photo example]**
---
## [SECTION 3 — DESIGN VS ART — 13:00–15:30] (Instructor on camera)
**Narration:**
"Quick but important: design is not art. An artist paints what he feels.
A designer solves a client's problem. The shop owner says, 'People don't
know my bakery exists.' The designer answers with a sign board. You are
training as a problem solver — that is what clients pay for."
---
## [SECTION 4 — THE WORKFLOW — 15:30–21:00] (Whiteboard, draw the chain)
**Narration:**
"Professionals never open the software first. They follow five steps.
One: the Brief — understand the job, in writing. Two: Research — look at
what exists. Three: Design — sketch first, then computer, and make three
options, not one. Four: Feedback — the client asks for changes; that is
normal, not an insult. Five: Delivery — send final files in the right
format. Brief, research, design, feedback, delivery. Say it with me."
**[Cue: animate the five steps appearing one by one in a chain]**
**Narration:**
"Watch how it works on a real example — a business card for a tailor
shop..." **[Cue: walk through the tailor shop example from the lesson
notes, showing each step.]**
---
## [MISTAKES — 21:00–23:30] (Instructor on camera)
**Narration:**
"Three mistakes beginners make. One: starting on the computer immediately
— sketch on paper first, it is faster. Two: designing what YOU like
instead of what the audience needs — keep the brief in front of you.
Three: taking feedback personally — feedback is about the design, never
about you."
---
## [PRACTICE TASK + RECAP — 23:30–27:00]
**Narration:**
"Your practice today: the Design Detective exercise in your handout —
analyze three real designs, score them, and improve the weakest one.
Then the assignment: write a full brief for Ayesha Boutique and sketch
your concepts. Tomorrow, Day 2: Raster vs Vector and file formats — the
technical foundation every designer must know. See you there!"

Boutique']**
