# Day-14 — Video Script: Vector Paths, Nodes & Logo Concepts

**Runtime target:** ~25 minutes | **Format:** screen recording + narration

---

**[0:00 — INTRO, talking head or title card]**
NARRATION: "Welcome to Day 14 of Graphic Designing Mastery. Today we enter
the engine room of logo design: vector paths and nodes. By the end of this
lesson, you'll control every curve in CorelDRAW like a professional — and
you'll sketch your first 20 logo concepts on paper. Let's begin."

**[0:45 — SCREEN: blank CorelDRAW document]**
NARRATION: "First, the big idea. A raster image — like a photo — is made of
pixels. Zoom in, and it turns blurry. A vector object is made of math:
points and curves. Zoom in forever, and it stays perfectly sharp."
SCREEN CUE: Draw a circle. Zoom to 800% to show the edge stays crisp. Place
a pixelated photo beside it and zoom to show blur.

**[3:00 — SCREEN: circle with Shape Tool active]**
NARRATION: "Every vector object is a path controlled by nodes. Press F10 —
the Shape Tool — and click the circle. These four dots are nodes. The little
lines sticking out are control handles. Drag a handle, and the curve bends.
Longer handle, deeper curve."
SCREEN CUE: Select the circle with Shape Tool, drag handles live.

**[5:30 — SCREEN: same circle, Property bar visible]**
NARRATION: "There are three node types, and this is the most important part
of today's lesson. Select a node. On the Property bar, click 'Make node a
cusp.' Now drag a handle — see the sharp corner? The two handles move
independently. That's a cusp: for corners and points."
SCREEN CUE: Convert node to cusp, drag handles to show the break.

**[7:30 — SCREEN: convert to smooth, then symmetrical]**
NARRATION: "Now click 'Make node smooth.' The corner disappears — the curve
flows through the node, and the handles stay in one straight line. Smooth
nodes are for elegant, flowing curves. And 'Make node symmetrical' is like
smooth, but both handles stay exactly equal — perfect balance, perfect for
circles and arcs."
SCREEN CUE: Convert the node to smooth, then symmetrical, dragging handles
each time.

**[10:00 — SCREEN: adding and deleting nodes]**
NARRATION: "Double-click anywhere on the path to add a node. Select nodes
and press Delete to remove them. Remember the golden rule: fewer nodes,
better logo. Extra nodes make curves lumpy."
SCREEN CUE: Add three nodes, then delete them; show before/after zoom.

**[12:00 — SCREEN: Bezier leaf demo]**
NARRATION: "Let's build something real: a simple leaf. With the Bezier
Tool, I'll click and drag four curved points. Rough — but watch. Shape
Tool: tips become cusp nodes, sides become smooth nodes, delete the extras,
adjust the handles… and we have a clean, logo-ready leaf in under two
minutes."
SCREEN CUE: Draw and refine the leaf live; fill green with Shift+F11.

**[15:30 — SLIDE: the 7 logo types]**
NARRATION: "Now, logo theory. There are seven logo types: wordmark — just
the name, like a famous cola brand; lettermark — initials; pictorial — a
real-world icon; abstract — a shape from imagination; mascot — a character;
emblem — text inside a badge; and combination — symbol plus name. Pause the
video and write one famous example under each."
SCREEN CUE: Show a clean slide listing all 7 types with one-line
descriptions.

**[18:30 — CAMERA: paper and pencil on desk]**
NARRATION: "Here's how professionals start every logo: on paper, not on the
computer. Write a one-line brief. List ten keywords. Then sketch — sixty
seconds per sketch, twenty thumbnails, matchbox size. Don't judge, don't
erase. Bad ideas lead to good ones. Then take a break, come back, and circle
your best three. Test them: simple enough for a child to draw? Different
enough to recognize? Clear at the size of a coin?"
SCREEN CUE: Time-lapse of quick thumbnail sketches, then circling 3.

**[22:30 — WRAP-UP]**
NARRATION: "Today you learned: vectors scale forever; nodes come in three
types — cusp, smooth, symmetrical; the Shape Tool is your scalpel; there are
seven logo types; and great logos start as twenty fast sketches. Your
assignment: build a house-plus-leaf icon in CorelDRAW with twelve nodes or
fewer, and sketch twenty concepts for the GreenNest brief. Tomorrow, we take
your best sketch and rebuild it as a professional vector logo. See you on
Day 15."
SCREEN CUE: Title card with assignment summary.
