# Video Script — Day-02: Raster vs Vector & File Formats

**Course:** ARTTECHES Graphic Designing Mastery
**Module:** M02 — Design Fundamentals
**Instructor:** Ali Akbar Shah
**Estimated video length:** 25–30 minutes

## [INTRO — 0:00–2:00] (Instructor on camera)

**Narration:**
"Welcome to Day 2. Yesterday you learned WHAT design is. Today you learn
the technical foundation that saves designers from the most embarrassing
mistake in the industry: the blurry banner. By the end of this lesson you
will never enlarge a small logo again — because you will understand
raster versus vector, and exactly which file format to use for every job."

**[Cue: show a sharp logo next to a pixelated enlarged logo — split screen]**

---

## [OBJECTIVES — 2:00–3:00]

**Narration:**
"Today: explain raster vs vector in your own words, predict what happens
when each is enlarged, choose the right format — JPG, PNG, GIF, SVG, CDR,
PDF — for any job, and build your personal format cheat sheet."

---

## [SECTION 1 — RASTER — 3:00–8:00] (Slides + phone demo)

**Narration:**
"A raster image is made of tiny colored squares called pixels — like a
mosaic. Your phone photos are raster. Watch what happens when I zoom in...
see the squares? That is pixelation. The rule of raster: fixed size. Make
it bigger than it is, and it breaks."

**[Cue: live phone screen recording — pinch-zoom into a photo until pixels
show; freeze and circle the squares]**

---

## [SECTION 2 — VECTOR — 8:00–12:00] (Slides + zoom demo)

**Narration:**
"Vector is the opposite. No pixels — just math. The file says 'draw a
circle here, in this color,' and the computer redraws it perfectly at ANY
size. A vector logo on a visiting card and on a ten-foot banner — both
razor sharp. Remember the trick: raster equals photo, vector equals logo."

**[Cue: animate the same shape at 3 sizes — edges stay perfectly sharp]**

---

## [SECTION 3 — FILE FORMATS — 12:00–19:00] (Format cards on screen)

**Narration:**
"Now the formats. JPG — photos, small files, but no transparency and it
loses quality each save. PNG — transparency, high quality, heavier files.
GIF — simple animation, only 256 colors. SVG — vector for websites. CDR —
your CorelDRAW working file, always editable. PDF — the universal print
and delivery format. Six formats, six jobs. Mix them up and you get the
white box on the blue header, the bounced email, the blurry banner."

**[Cue: each format appears as a card with icon + 3 traits; show the
'white box on blue header' mistake visually]**

---

## [SECTION 4 — THE LOGO STORY — 19:00–22:30] (Story slides)

**Narration:**
"Real story pattern: a designer makes a logo as a small JPG. Website —
fine. Facebook — okay. Ten-foot banner — disaster. The client pays twice.
The professional way: build the logo ONCE as vector in CorelDRAW, save
the CDR master, then export PNG for the website, JPG for Facebook, PDF
for the banner. One master, three perfect outputs."

**[Cue: show the three exports branching from one CDR master file]**

---

## [MISTAKES — 22:30–24:30]

**Narration:**
"Three mistakes: one — making a logo as JPG, always build logos as
vector. Two — keeping only the exported JPG and deleting your working
file; always keep the CDR. Three — using PNG for everything; it is heavy,
use JPG for web photos so pages load fast."

---

## [PRACTICE + RECAP — 24:30–28:00]

**Narration:**
"Your exercise today: play Format Doctor — diagnose five broken format
choices. Your assignment: plan all six deliverables for City Fresh Mart's
launch package. Tomorrow, Day 3: the Elements and Principles of Design —
the actual building blocks of every beautiful layout. See you there!"

**[Cue: end screen — 'Day-02 Assignment: Format Plan for City Fresh Mart']**
